Tina Fey says that there are people who continue to insist that women are not funny. “You still hear it,” she says.“It’s just a lot easier to ignore.”

I hate how to some people comedy is a gender issue. You could be a man or a woman or a squirrel or a potato chip, it doesn’t matter; if you’re funny, you’re funny. And it’s just like, there are so many senses of humor out there, you know? Senses of humor… it sounds weird. Like who’s the king of comedy that gets to say you’re not funny? I don’t know. I think everyone is funny, just not to everyone. I don’t know what I was trying to say. At first the quote got me riled up and now I’m lazy.

Oh yeah, your penis automatically makes you funny. I don’t think so. Gender shouldn’t be an issue in comedy anymore. Look at SNL, it’s being headlined by KRISTEN FUCKING WIIG and look who she’s supported by. Nasim Pedrad, Abby Elliot, Bill Hader, Taran Killam. It’s an equal distribution (mostly!). I’ll be honest and say that I don’t think Vanessa Bayer is funny, but I also don’t think Jay Pharoah is that funny either. Once again, equally unfunny. Anyway, main point: I think the four women up there have proved themselves time and time again, even if they shouldn’t have had to. In the words of Amy Poehler, “I don’t fucking care if you like it.” As it should be.
